Bing News is the second-largest English-language news index after Google News, and on certain niches (tech, finance, sports) it surfaces stories Google misses. AI Content Generator can pull Bing News into a Live News Mode campaign through one of two paths: the Bing News RSS feed, or the NewsAPI / Tavily integration in the Fonti Notizie settings section. Both produce the same outcome — fresh news items summarised by AI and published to WordPress with the source cited.
This tutorial covers both paths end-to-end: how to construct a Bing News RSS URL with the right query and parameters, how to configure NewsAPI or Tavily as the source in Live News Mode, the per-item rewrite rules that prevent plagiarism, the cadence and dedup settings that keep the queue healthy, and the verification steps to confirm Bing News is feeding your campaign reliably.
By the end you’ll have a campaign producing 10–20 short summaries per day pulled from Bing News in your niche, each rewritten in your voice, with citation links pointing back to the original source — at a cost of around $10/month in API calls.
Path A — Direct Bing News RSS via Live News Mode

The simplest path. Inside the campaign editor, open the Live News Mode postbox and enable it. Set News source to RSS. In the RSS Feed URL textarea paste a Bing News RSS URL — Bing exposes RSS through the format:
https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=YOUR+QUERY&format=rss
Replace YOUR+QUERY with your niche keyword (URL-encoded). For example https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=%22WordPress%22+plugin&format=rss produces an RSS feed of recent Bing News results matching that query. Save the campaign; the plugin starts polling on the schedule defined by your cadence settings.
Path B — NewsAPI or Tavily covering Bing News
The alternative path. Both NewsAPI (newsapi.org) and Tavily (tavily.com) aggregate news from multiple search engines including Bing News, often with cleaner metadata and faster freshness than scraping Bing RSS directly.
To use either, first configure the API key in AI Content Generator → Settings → Fonti Notizie. Both services have free tiers that suffice for testing (NewsAPI: 100 requests/day; Tavily: 1000 requests/month). Once the key is configured, return to the Live News Mode panel and pick NewsAPI or Tavily from the News source dropdown.
Step 1 — Write a precise query
For all three paths (RSS, NewsAPI, Tavily) the query field is the most important setting. Three rules.
- Use phrase quotes around the main keyword.
"WordPress"filters out drift like “WordCamp” or “wordsmith”. - Combine with AND/OR groups.
"WordPress" AND ("plugin" OR "theme")narrows to plugin/theme news. - Test the query in Bing.com/news first. If the first 20 organic results look on-topic, the query is good; if 30% are off-topic, tighten it.
Step 2 — Choose the right language
The Live News Mode panel has a Language selector with Italiano / English / Deutsch / Français / Español. The selection affects two things: which Bing News locale to query (for NewsAPI/Tavily) and which language to use for the summary output. Keep both in the same language unless you specifically want translation.
For English-language Bing News, English is the default. For an Italian niche, switch to Italiano and the plugin queries Bing’s Italian index and produces Italian summaries.
Step 3 — Set the cadence and dedup
Below the queries, the Live News Mode panel exposes Max news items to fetch, Max posts per run, and News search window (hours, 0 = unlimited). Sensible defaults: fetch 50 items per poll, publish at most 5 per run, news search window 24 hours.
Pair these with the title presets dropdown (Keep original / SEO optimised / Engaging / Formal / Question) which shapes how the AI rewrites each title. For Bing News content, “SEO optimised” or “Engaging” usually produces the best Google ranking on the summary pages.
Step 4 — Configure dedup against your existing index
Bing News and Google News overlap heavily on big stories. If you have a Google News campaign already running on the same niche, the same story will appear in both feeds. Anti-duplicates in the SEO brief (titles) catches most duplicates by title; for content-level dedup, enable the cross-campaign dedup option in Live News Mode.
The combination of title-level dedup plus content-level dedup catches 95%+ of overlapping stories without manual editorial review.
Step 5 — Write the summary prompt in Extra AI instructions
The summary quality is driven by the Extra AI instructions metabox more than by anything else. A working template for news summaries:
For every item from Live News Mode: - Start with the news in one paragraph (who, what, when). - Expand with 2-3 paragraphs of context. - End with an editorial paragraph from a reader perspective. - 400-600 words total. - Cite the source domain in the lead paragraph. - Never copy a sentence from the original verbatim. - Never invent numbers or dates absent from the source.
Paste a version of this template into Extra AI instructions, save the campaign, and every Bing News item gets summarised by the same rules — producing consistent, ethical, source-cited posts.
Step 6 — Verify with a test fetch
Click Run news fetch now in the Live News Mode panel. The plugin pulls the latest items from Bing News, dedups against the last 7 days, and shows you the results in the queue. Inspect 3–5 of them: are the rewrites preserving the news? Is the source cited cleanly? Is the editorial paragraph adding something?
This is the iteration moment. Tweak the query, refine the Extra AI instructions, change the title preset until the test batch reads exactly the way you want, then enable the campaign for continuous polling.
RSS vs NewsAPI vs Tavily — pick the right path
- RSS (direct Bing URL) — free, simple, works immediately. Limit: Bing sometimes rate-limits high-frequency RSS polling.
- NewsAPI — cleaner metadata, faster freshness, free tier is generous for one campaign. Limit: free tier caps at 100 requests/day.
- Tavily — most accurate semantic search, best for narrow niches. Limit: free tier caps at 1000 requests/month; paid tier from $20/month.
For most blogs, start with RSS. If polling fails or content drifts, upgrade to NewsAPI. Use Tavily only when the semantic precision of NewsAPI isn’t enough.
Troubleshooting
- Empty queue despite the schedule running — query too narrow; broaden it or remove the time window restriction.
- Bing returns 429 on every poll — too-frequent RSS polling; switch to NewsAPI or Tavily.
- Same story published twice — Anti-duplicates was off. Switch to Fast or Strict.
- Summaries feel too close to the original — Extra AI instructions doesn’t enforce “no verbatim copy”. Reinforce it explicitly.
- Tavily/NewsAPI key reads “invalid” — check the key in Settings → Fonti Notizie, regenerate from the provider’s dashboard.
You’re done
That’s the full Bing News pipeline: pick RSS, NewsAPI or Tavily as the path, write a precise query, configure language and cadence, dedup against existing content, paste a summary prompt into Extra AI instructions, run a test fetch and refine. From here, every Bing News story matching your query becomes an automated post on your site — rewritten in your voice, source-cited, and deduplicated against the rest of your editorial library.
