Analytics

How to monitor output, costs and performance across campaigns

The Analytics screen tracks API usage, estimates generation costs and provides volume metrics across all campaigns. It is the financial and operational dashboard of the plugin: use it to understand how much content is being produced, at what cost, and whether your API spending is within the configured budget.

When to open this screen

Open the Analytics screen when you want to review how much content has been generated across campaigns, when you suspect that API costs are higher than expected, or when you need to verify that the budget alert thresholds are correctly configured.

Analytics data is aggregated by month. You can review the current month and compare it to previous months to identify trends in generation volume and cost. The data updates in near-real-time as each generation completes.

The correct procedure is to review Analytics at least once a week for active campaigns: check total articles generated, estimated cost by provider, and whether any campaign is consuming disproportionate resources compared to its output.

What’s on this page

1
API call log
Circular log of the last 500 API calls with provider, model, campaign, characters and timestamp.
2
Estimated monthly cost
Aggregated cost estimate in EUR per provider based on token consumption.
3
Budget settings
Monthly budget cap with configurable alert threshold and automatic generation block.
4
Monthly stats
Volume and cost metrics broken down by month for trend analysis.

Recommended procedure for reviewing Analytics

A structured review prevents budget surprises and helps identify inefficient campaigns before they become expensive.

1. Check monthly volume

Verify total articles generated this month against the expected production pace.

2. Review cost by provider

Identify which AI provider is generating the highest cost and whether it matches the quality received.

3. Check budget status

Verify that estimated spend is below the alert threshold configured in the budget settings.

4. Identify outlier campaigns

Look for campaigns that consume much more than others and check whether their output justifies the cost.

Analytics metrics and what they mean

Understanding what each metric represents helps you make better decisions about model selection, campaign pacing and budget allocation.

API calls

Total number of calls made to all AI providers. One article generation typically involves multiple calls.

Chars in / Chars out

Estimated input and output characters per call, used to calculate token consumption.

Estimated cost

Calculated from character counts using standard provider pricing (per 1M tokens, converted to EUR).

Cost by model

Breakdown showing which models (GPT-4o-mini, Claude Haiku, Gemini Flash, etc.) are consuming the most budget.

Monthly trend

Month-over-month comparison of generation volume and estimated spend.

Budget alert threshold

Email alert sent when estimated monthly cost reaches the configured percentage of the budget cap.

Budget block

When 100% of the monthly budget is reached, new generations are blocked until the next month.

Image cost tracking

Separate tracking for AI image generation costs with per-quality pricing.

How to configure and use the budget safety feature

The budget safety feature prevents unexpected API overspend. Configuring it correctly provides protection without blocking legitimate production work.

Set a realistic budget

Start with 1.5x your expected monthly spend to allow for production peaks without triggering false alerts.

Set the alert threshold

80% is the recommended alert threshold — it gives you time to review before hitting the cap.

Monitor the alert email

The plugin sends an email when the threshold is reached. Make sure the admin email is correct.

Reset the budget

The monthly budget resets automatically on the 1st of each month. Manual reset is available for testing.

Common mistakes to avoid

The most common mistake is not setting a budget cap at all and discovering high costs only at the end of the month from the API provider invoice. A second mistake is setting the budget cap too low: even a single large campaign running for a week can exceed a very tight budget, causing generation to be blocked mid-campaign.

Summary

Analytics provides the financial and operational visibility needed to run AI content generation sustainably. Review it weekly, configure a realistic budget cap with an alert threshold, and use the model and campaign breakdown to optimise cost without sacrificing output quality.
