How to edit and finalise generated content inside WordPress

The Article editor is the standard WordPress post editor, pre-loaded with the content generated by the plugin. It is the screen where you complete the final editorial pass before publishing: refining the generated text, reviewing metadata, adding or adjusting images and completing any fields that require human input.

When to open this screen

Open the Article editor from the Editorial Calendar or directly from WordPress Posts when you need to review, correct or enrich a generated article before it goes live. It is not a plugin-specific screen — it is the native WordPress editor with additional metaboxes added by the plugin and any SEO plugins installed on the site.

Generated content should always receive at least a quick review in the Article editor before publication. Even when the output is high quality, details like internal links, specific data points or brand-specific terminology may need manual adjustment.

The correct workflow is to open the article from the Calendar, read through the generated content, make targeted edits, check the SEO metabox fields and then set the publication date or publish immediately.

What’s on this page

1
Generated content
The article body produced by the plugin, editable in the native WordPress block editor or classic editor.
2
Title and excerpt
WordPress fields for the article title (which may differ from the campaign title) and the article excerpt.
3
SEO metabox
Fields for meta title, meta description and focus keyword added by the SEO plugin installed on the site.
4
Social metabox
Generated social media texts for X/Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, available for review and copying.

Recommended procedure for editing a generated article

A structured editing pass is faster and more consistent than reading articles linearly from top to bottom without a defined checklist.

1. Read the title and intro

Verify that the title and first paragraph are accurate and match the intended topic.

2. Scan the heading structure

Check that H2 and H3 headings reflect the content below them and are SEO-relevant.

3. Review key claims

Verify any specific claims, statistics or references in the article for accuracy.

4. Check SEO fields

Fill in or review the focus keyword, meta title and meta description before publishing.

What to check and edit in the Article editor

Not all generated content requires the same level of editing. These are the areas that most often need human review.

Opening paragraph

The AI often opens with a definition or summary. Replace with a hook that matches your editorial voice if needed.

Specific data points

Numbers, percentages and statistics generated by the AI may need fact-checking or sourcing.

Brand terminology

Check that product names, company names and brand-specific terms are correct and consistently used.

Internal links

The plugin can add automatic internal links, but manual review ensures they point to the right pages.

Featured image

Verify that the assigned featured image is relevant and visually appropriate for the article topic.

Meta description

Review the AI-generated meta description for accuracy and make sure it includes the focus keyword.

Slug

Check the URL slug for length and keyword relevance before publishing.

Publication date

Set the correct publication date and time, especially for articles in the future queue.

How to work efficiently with generated content

High-volume content generation is most efficient when the editing workflow is streamlined. These practices reduce per-article editing time.

Skim first, edit second

Read the full article once before making any edits. Editing while reading leads to inconsistent revisions.

Edit headings first

Fixing the H2 structure first gives a framework that makes body editing faster.

Use Find and Replace

For recurring terminology corrections across long articles, use the editor’s find-and-replace function.

Batch similar articles

Group articles from the same campaign for editing sessions to stay in the same editorial context.

Common mistakes to avoid

The most common mistake is editing the article content without checking the SEO metabox fields: the article may be polished but the meta title and description are still the AI default, which reduces click-through rate. A second mistake is publishing without reviewing the featured image — an unrelated image undermines credibility regardless of content quality.

Summary

The Article editor is the last human checkpoint before publication. Keep the editing pass focused: title, intro, key claims, SEO fields and featured image. For campaigns with consistent quality output, most articles need only 5 to 10 minutes of review per piece.
